'Ittan momen'

Ittan momen is a ghostly phenomenon from the folklore of Kagoshima Prefecture in Japan, which flies through the air at night and attacks humans.

Appearance

Ittan momen is a youkai who typically appears to be a harmless length of white cotton cloth about ten meters long. Usually it drifts through the air and will sometimes attach itself to random passers-by.

Behavior

If threatened or scared, it may coil around their nose and mouth, attempting to induce death by suffocation. Ittan momen enjoy flying and being worn, but only by those who have won their trust.
