Crime: In 1911 he broke into six Italian grocery shops and killed the Italian grocers and their wives. Went quiet for a few years until 1918 and 1919.
Notes: The widow of one of his victims shot a man whom she claimed to be the Axeman. She maybe right as he was not heard again since then. People of New Orleans enjoyed the horror with 'Axeman' parties where everyone dressed as Italian grocers and axemen. There was a popular song calles 'The Mysterious Axeman's Jazz'.
