The fish-man of Lierganes or hombre pez of Lierganes is an amphibian human-looking creature in the mythology of Cantabria (Northerne Spain)
Story
The legend tells that on St John's Eve, in 1763, Mr. Francisco de la Vega Casar, who lived in Lierganes, went to the Bilbao's Ria to take a bath with his friends. He disappeared while he was swimming, and everybody thought he drowned. Six years later he was recovered by some Cadiz fishermen, but his body was scale-covered. After being recognized, he lived on the ground for nine years, but because of the way people treated him, he finally disappeared into the sea, forever.
Behavior
The fish-man lives in caves next to the sea. It spends time lying in wait for girls and devastating coast villages.
