Makemake (also written as Make-make or MakeMake) or bird-man is the creator of humanity in the Rapa Nui mythology of Easter Island.

The Moai statue cult predominated from 3000BC until the 17th century when it was replaced by bird-man cult which revolves around Makemake, a universal god of fertility and the chief god of the "Tangata manu", who become incarnate in the birdman.
