The Pincoy is a water spirit of the seas in the chilote mythology of Chiloé, Chile.

Description

The Pincoy is similar to a Merman creature, with a colour bright silver body, a handsome and manly human face adorned with long golden hair, being magically attractive to the women.

Role

The Pincoy is the son of Millalobo (mythical king of the seas of Chiloé) and the human Huenchula; his sisters, are the Sirena chilota and the Pincoya (which also is his wife). With her sisters, he carried the dead from the sea onto the caleuche. Moreover, he is responsible for singing a beautiful and strange song, so that the Pincoya start the magical dance, for fertility of the sea.
