| As you write about what Gorgon/Medusa symbolize, as well as quoting Freud, I would also add the fact that Medusa, as stated in the book "Female Rage: Unlocking Its Secrets, Claiming It's Power" Carol Southern Books, NY 1994, written by Mary Valentis Ph.D. and Ann Devane, PhD, is also used as a mean to explore aspects of female rage as well as male incapacity to face it.
