The Gopungo, is a monster said to live up in the mountains of North Carolina. He looks like a bear, with a white head, and over his body is what looks like opossum fur, his hands and feet and ears are scaly like a lizard. On a hot day by the river, up near brown mountain beach, you can hear his claws tapping on the rocks behind you, if you turn to look at him, he will leave. But if you don't look, he comes up and snatched you up.
