In Japanese mythology, Kubikajiri (首かじり) is a ghost or yuhrei which is seen in graveyards at night.

According to legend, the kubikajiri is looking for its lost head. It devours the heads which are not its own, of both dead and living that he may encounter. His apparition is usually preceded by the smell of fresh blood
