Please return to and review this list frequently - it is continually under construction.
==Create an article about a new creature==
To provide for a more consistent layout for readers of Monstropedia, we use '''article templates''' for most  articles. You can use the following templates either to start a new article, or as guidelines for reformatting or adding to existing articles.
We think it's great to have simple, logical sections for each article on Monstropedia. This makes it easier for readers to find the info they need on any particular creature. Sure, it cuts down somewhat on contributors' creative license, but it makes our encyclopedian task easier.
Insert <nowiki>{{monster template}}</nowiki> at the beginning of the article to produce the main captions.

== Acknowledging other wiki's as a source ==
===Wikipedia===
If you have used Wikipedia as the source for an article, insert <nowiki>{{wikipedia}}</nowiki> at the end of the article to produce:
{{wikipedia}}
===Thelemapedia===
Some material in the [[Help:Contents|Help]] section was adapted from Thelemapedia. There is therefore a template <nowiki>{{thelemapedia}}</nowiki>:
{{thelemapedia}}
===The Book of THoTH===
Insert template <nowiki>{{thoth}}</nowiki>:
{{thoth}}
== Stubs ==
If your article is a stub, add <nowiki>{{stub}}</nowiki> at the top of the article to produce this message:
''This article or section is a stub. You can help Monstropedia by expanding it.''
== Image copyright templates==
Tagging images is an important part of editing. Please do not submit copyrighted work without permission. When uploading images, ensure they are tagged using the correct template.
===Book covers===
Add the template <nowiki>{{book cover}}</nowiki> in the summary box to produce:
{{book cover}}
===Public domain images===
Where an image is in the [[public domain]] due to the author being dead for 100 years, use <nowiki>{{PD100}}</nowiki> in the summary box:
{{PD100}}
===GFDL 1.2===
Common tag on Wikipedia; insert <nowiki>{{GFDL1.2}}</nowiki> in the summary box
{{GFDL1.2}}
===GFDL modified===
Should you make alterations or modifications to a GFDL image before uploading, enter <nowiki>{{GFDL modified}}</nowiki> into the summary box:
{{GFDL modified}}
===Limited license===
For images to which only Monstropedia has been granted permission to use, and which are otherwise copyrighted, use {<nowiki>{Limited license}}</nowiki>:
{{Limited license}}
===Public domain (user created)===
If a Monstropedia user uploads an image, eg photograph, work of art, that they have created themself, and they are releasing the image into the public domain, they should use the template <nowiki>{{PD-user}}</nowiki> and also include their user name in the summary box:
{{PD-user}}
