Taraka (Sanskrit: तारक) or Tarakasura is a male daitya and son of Vajranaka.
Story
His powers were so great that the gods grew alarmed and Skanda, the god of war, was born in order to defeat him.
The Tarakasura was killed by lord Murugan. After killing him Kartikeya established a Shivling near the village Kavi where the river Mahi meets the Ocean.
